Christmas Island is a territory of Australia located in the Indian Ocean. Like Cocos Islands, it is generally considered a safe destination for travelers. However, as with any destination, there are some crime risks that travelers should be aware of.

The most common crime on Christmas Island is theft, particularly of unsecured property such as rental bicycles or unlocked accommodation. It is important to always lock up your belongings and accommodation when leaving, and to secure any rental equipment.

Another risk to be aware of is drug-related crime. The possession, use, or trafficking of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited in Australia and can result in severe penalties. Travelers should also be cautious of accepting drinks from strangers or leaving drinks unattended, as drink spiking can occur.
